Jatiluwih is a mountain village that located at the valley of Mount Batukaru with an altitude of 850 meters above sea level. Jatiluwih village is located in the Penebel district, Tabanan regency, is about 20 km north of the Tabanan city or about 38 km from Denpasar. At that time Girikusuma Village there was a religious leader named Ida Bagus Angker who meditate and madiksa (to be a priest). After he became a priest, then Girikusuma village renamed to Jatiluwih village. At the place where he meditated, and then built a shrine called Gunung Sari temple.

The temple was founded by Ida Bagus Angker along with an Abiseka named Ida Bhagawan Rsi Canggu in about the 16th century. On the Gunung Sari temple yard there is the a holy building called "Padmasana" that serves to worship God in the manifestation of the Lord Shiva for Mahadeva aspects that located in Mountain Batukaru or West Mandala ruler. So the worship is done in order that is expected to get a special gift such as fertility, prosperity, and safety in agriculture.
